The series contains the official correspondence of David Sholtz, twenty-sixth governor, from 1933 to 1937. The records reflect the official, constitutional, and political duties of the Office of the Governor. The series consists mainly of incoming and outgoing correspondence filed by general subject area, agency or organizational name, or county name. The correspondence files of 1936 are incomplete, all files after M are missing.

David Sholtz was born on October 6, 1891 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Yale University in 1914 and received his law degree from Stetson University, 1915. After serving in World War I, he settled in Florida where he became a lawyer and businessman in Daytona Beach. He represented Volusia County in the Florida House of Representatives in 1917, served as a State's Attorney from 1919 to 1921, and was City Judge in 1921.
